about

WRGSM11 - Limited to 20 hand numbered tapes
CPR026 - Common People Records, LP

"Released digitally in the summer of 2018, very limited releases on cassette followed shortly after through Wargasm Records (20 copies) and Fuck The Mainstream Records (50 copies). But now it's time for Défonce's debut to get the treatment it deserves and that is - of course - the vinyl treatment! Common People Records took the honors of getting the debut of this new, Canadian outfit out on black and red wax and as always it looks and sounds great! Now Canadian bands can go for lyrics in English, French or a combination of both, but as the band's name already suggests, Défonce went for the second option – an excellent choice if you ask me! Not just because French sounds so damn sexy, but also because it fits perfectly with the type of Oi! - or as the insert suggests punk rock extrême - Défonce plays, which draws influences from the likes of Warrior Kids (hence the cover of “Adolescent”), Plastic Gangsters or newer French bands such as Syndrome 81, Kronstadt and Traitre. People who frequently visit and read this page know I love those bands, and Défonce is no exception. Ever since these recordings surfaced for the first time I’ve been keen on them and now on 12” vinyl – doing 45 rotations per minute – I keep on flipping it over and over... and over again! Because besides the aforementioned cover, these lads also crank out eight originals – such as “Têtes De Mort”, “Culture Violente”, “Dieu De Vengeance” and “Crime De Haine” - all filled with great hooks, catchy sing-alongs and superb melodies fans of this new wave of French and Canadian Oi!-punk will love! So do yourself a favor and check these guys out if you like your punk rock extrême, definitely worth your time and money! You might want to act fast on that red vinyl though, because only 100 of them exist, while the black wax had a run of 285 copies – all hand-numbred and housed in a beautiful sleeve."
